PrimoPDF Makes PDF Authoring Super Easy
Sometimes you need to distribute an electronic document but want to preserve its contents in a form that cannot be edited by others, such as a user manual, a presentation, a brochure, a pamphlet or even an electronic scrapbook. The industry standard for this purpose is the PDF file which is the format generated by Adobe’s Acrobat software package. But not everyone needs the vast suite of features offered by a package costing hundreds of dollars. The free solution is PrimoPDF, which gives you the most commonly used features needed by those who generate PDF files, including a host of options for protecting your document.
PrimoPDF is the freeware companion package to the professional PDF creator, nitroPDF, from activePDF, Inc. It gives you one-button PDF generation from the most common MS Office programs. But if you want to create a PDF file using another brand of office programs (or from any other program that allows you to print), PrimoPDF shows up in your list of printers. When you “print” to PrimoPDF, a dialog box is displayed showing you all the options for generating the PDF file. After the PDF file is created, the resulting file is opened allowing you to immediate inspect the results.
PrimoPDF gives you the power to create documents for all kinds of purposes, from web-content and eBooks, to high resolution “pre-press” proofs. The protection features of PrimoPDF allow you to password protect the document, to disable copying text or using OCR, and to prevent printing.
The PDF files generated by PrimoPDF conform to the PDF 1.4 and 1.5 specifications, giving you the ability to create content that can be read by any PDF reader. PrimoPDF even allows you to output using Asian character sets and typefaces other than the Windows native True Type fonts.
Only the Windows operating systems are supported by PrimoPDF, including 64 bit versions of XP and Vista. But once you discover the power of this little package, it’s sure to become a favorite in your software toolbox.
