Every once in a while, a piece of software comes along that establishes a new watermark on how things should be done and what others will soon be copying. You are about to read about one such program. Seaching for images on the web is pretty clunky and time consuming. But once you install Cooliris, a browser add-on, your image searches will become magical.

Yes, you read the word “magical” in a software review. When’s the last time you saw that?

After it’s installed, the Cooliris logo appears in the upper right corner of your browser toolbar. If the current webpage is Cooliris enabled, the icon turns blue. When you click it Cooliris is activated and all the photos and videos on the site are presented in a smoothly scrollable wall. Otherwise you can select a photo browsing service, like Google and Yahoo, enter a few search terms and have all the photos displayed on the photo wall.

It is so cool, it defies description. The only thing remotely like it Cover Flow in iTunes and the iPhone.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. Cooliris offers additional products to allow your own website or WordPress blog to become Cooliris enabled.

The number of Cooliris enable website includes most of the favorites. Google, Yahoo, Amazon, Facebook, Flickr, MySpace, YouTube and dozens more. And the list is growing.

Another of the very cool features found on the website is a plugin for PowerPoint 2007 which allows you to bring the magic of Cooliris into your presentations. You won’t find the download link for this plugin in the products page; instead you’ll need to drill down through the Cooliris blog. Lucky for you, we have a link at the end of this review.

Web-browsers that operate under both Windows and Mac work with Cooliris.
